I had an A3 2.0TDI/DSG remapped by REVOTechnik (work was done by Stealth Racing in Southam) - REVO are nearby in Daventry.

1st remap boosted the 140 bhp A3 to 206bhp (I still have the dyno map printout to prove), whilst fantastic fun didn't do a busting lot for fuel economy - REVO did a 2nd map that reduced the power to 182 and the fuel economy returned. The leasing company did ask why the A3 needed front tyres every 6,000 miles....

I know REVO do maps for the 177TDI - it's worth giving them a call.

Now mine has had it's first service it's getting the REVO treatment. ECU needs to come out to be unlocked then Mapped via the OBD port as normal. 210BHP and 50lb/ft torque extra on the 2.0TDI :)

Cheers lads, I'll give them a try. How do you get on when going to Audi for a service? do they pick up on anything?
They will if they go looking for it. It depends on your relationship with the dealer. Also bear in mind implications for warranty. A failed air conditioning compressor would be covered but they could reasonably refuse a warranty claim on the engine or gearbox if they discover the remap...

Revo do - (or used to do - you need to check) a switch that you could plug into the diagnostics port to force the ECU to revert to standard mapping - took about 20 seconds to do. They had found a way of holding the second map in unused (by Audi) storage areas in the ECU - so the std and uprated maps could co-exist. Neat.

Spot on John, its called the SPS switch.

Another point Lagerpete is that Superchips do a product called Bluefin which is a handheld remap device which can be used to take the remap on and off as many times as you like. Power isn't quite as good and if you are looking for a VAG specialist I'd always go REVO.

Stealth Racing in Southam as quoted above are very reputable and did the remap on my A2.

For anyone north of the border I would recommend A for Audi in Glasgow. They partner with Celtic Tuning, and for an offer price of £320 the Q5 can boast 210BHP and 344lb of torque.

Lets face it here - even with the S Line suspension spec'd - we drive SUV's not sports cars. But a remap really sharpens up and focuses the performance and torque through the low gears is really impressive. I'd highly recommend having this done on any TDi.

For anyone on the East Coast of Scotland, might like to consider > http://www.brotek.co.uk/

Mark is a nice guy who I met at the last Audi meeting where he told me he will travel to fit anywhere in Scotland. I watched as he remaped several Audis.

He will be on the Audi stand at the Scottish Car Show at Ingliston 21st July.
