Hi Davey,
Sorry about delay in replying went to Spain for 4 days. Great weather!!
Car was supposed to be delivered 1st June. It has been here for about 3 weeks at the dealers.
The sales man was very reluctant to show me it. I found out why when I saw it, it had arrived with out the privacy glass. He dared to suggest that I fit tinted film.
I am now waiting for glass to arrive from HULL AUDI.
The sales man has failed to return my phone calls on more than 5 occasions.
I decided not to go with Audi finance and arranged a meet with the sales man to confirm final figures, he failed to meet due to a hand over.
He posted me the figure and it was approximately ?75 over.
Still waiting for car and will ring or visit today.
Will definitely post photos when it eventually arrives.
Regards

Hi Neil,

I assume Hull Audi ultimately agreed to swap the glass?

Is the three week delay entirely due to the wait on the glass?

Hi Kev

It is the glass and having a tow bar fitted.
The glass is Audi and it arrived Saturday hopefully fitted this week.
Got the proper Audi tow bar in the end for ?1000 inc after I complained directly to Audi uk, I know it ends up ?350 more than factory but a bit of a balls up not ordering it at the beginning.

I can honestly say that I have had a lot of new cars and the Audi experience is proving to be the worst.
If only they would communicate.

Sorry to go off on one but I am less than happy having my new car pulled apart!!!

Regards Neil

imho...I think it's really good that Audi can install the tinted glass after production.

I know this happened to a couple of people who bought Range Rover Sports and LR just could not or would not provide the correct factory tinted glass after the car had been built to be installed at a dealer.

I hope it's sorted pdq for you.

Thanks, I will be checking it is the correct glass. Don`t no what I`ll do if not. Money off may be, replacement not an option if you know what I mean!!

Hi Neil,

Just wondering - why you wouldn't go with foil-tinted glass? What are the differences in practical use compared to factory-tinted glass?

I paid for OE so thats what I wanted. Also the films can peel and scratch. Added value for resale.

Neil.
Also heated glass and ariels built into the glass usually stand slightly proud creating a small airpocket when the film is put on top. Gets worse with time. Will never look as good as OEM.

The aftermarket stuff is good on side windows and some years ago I had a car with the Pentagon antitheft stuff applied which saved me a lot of glass injury when I had a crash in it. Because the glass was kept intact by the film as per what it would have done if a thief had tried to break in. Very good stuff! Pentagon are the best aftermarket tint

But even Pentagon can't overcome the filaments in glass.

So the pain of waiting will be worth it.

Have you had the tow bar and glass fitted yet Neil and was the work to your satisfaction?

Kev
Hi Kev.
Viewed the car car this afternoon.
They have done a fantastic job on the tow bar, it is the same as factory fit as far as I can tell. I checked under the bonnet were the new fans had been fitted and noticed the chrome grill surround was loose.
Time will tell as regards rattles etc.
Windows are genuine Audi and again appears to be a good job, a few small marks on interior trim that i have brought to their attention.
Pick up Thursday morning 10.00 so watch this space. All in all I think I am happy ?????
