Hi Folks, a few weeks ago I parked my car and on returning noticed alarm was sounding but it wouldn’t respond to my key so I manually opened the car, still no response to the key and eventually alarm went off. But, car still not responding to the key so recovery checked battery etc and ended up putting it on skates to recover it. It’s been at an Audi specialist who’ve done numerous diagnostics on it and think it could be the control unit. Has anyone else had a similar issue, if so how was it fixed? Prior to this not had any issues, I’ve owned and driven it from new Over 4 years ago.

I had similar on my Sierra Cosworth and it was a faulty car alarm. I had ECU replaced on an A3 and it was very expensive. If it has Audi service you might get replacement FoC by dealer.

First thing I would do is replace the battery. Check for any water ingress into electrical parts. New battery for fob. Reset faults and try restart. Just go through all basics. I would be surprised if ecu has failed whilst parked unless subject to large emp. Was is parked near a large transmitter?

Thanks guys. Richard all those checks you suggested have been done, and it wasn’t parked near a transmitter, but was about 50 yards from an electrical charging point.
Apparently it’s the control unit that the key communicates with that they think might be the issue. They contacted Audi technical who asked them to repeat the tests and swap the control unit from a donor vehicle, which of course they can’t as they ain’t an Audi centre.
Hi Nemo, im fine, hope you are too, car’s been the same other than this issue! Could be a coincidence but about 2 weeks earlier it had various S/W updates at the Audi centre, they kept chasing me to get them done so i eventually took it in. It was fine straight after, and then this!
