Nov 09 59 Reg Q5 has had an erratic Clonking Rattle (like a golf ball in a plastic cup) noise from the front drivers side since I took delivery. It is most noticable at low speed on an uneven (ie speed bumps) surface and is distinct from the tyre and suspension clunk from bumps in the road.
First diagnosis was a known brake problem causing noise on breaking, this was fixed but did not cure the CR noise.
Second diagnosis was a shockabsorber problem but the morning I took the car in the noise stopped and they did not change the shock. Two days later the noise has come back, not as loud but its back.
The Audi techs have been really helpful and a rattle can be a pain to find but this is now really annoying me!
Has anyone out there had a similar problem?

My old car an A4 1998, did have this noise when driving on roads with a rough surface like paving stones.
A person in the workshop told me this was caused by a weakness in a lot of the rubber bearings in the chassis/undercarriage items. My dealer replaced all these items within the first 5 years, and even today the car is still fine. Hope this is not the case with the Q5 as well

Roger
