Anyone having trouble importing CD content into the jukebox on the HDD 3G system? Mine won't do it at all though all other sources are fine. I've tried numerous discs in case thay are copy protected but no dice.

Hi Martyn, You cannot import any original music CD to the jukebox ? first thing I discovered. What you have to is make your CD into an MP3/MP4 format first and then it will import.

Question for you ? I have some music on the jukebox but don?t know how to delete a couple songs I want to ??? any ideas

Cheers

Ah thanks Andrew, I'm sure my manual says you should be able to but it's interesting to note you can't either. No probs via MP3 as you say but something of a pain all in all. Single tracks or any combination of tracks/albums can be deleted just by going into the delete function via setup and tagging them.......It's all in the book.

Cheers

If you access the MMI "Hidden Menu" there is an option for Importing Media and the settings are Copy /No Ripping that needs to be changed to Copy / Ripping

You need to make a change with Vag-Com to enable the "Hidden Menu". There are directions here:
http://trick77.com/2009/07/23/unlocking-mmi-3g-hidden-menu/
Then you should be able to rip cd's to your jukebox.

VAG-COM is a cable (OBDII to USB) and software package that provides a connection between your car and laptop so that you can use VCDS software to make many modifications (here's a link to a site that talks about some VAG-COM Mods) to the car as well as read and reset Trouble Codes.VAG-COM Wikipedia Site
They are exspensive around $350 US Dollars. Your dealership has these cables though and many of them are willing to make the modifications for you. I talked to my Service Advisor today and he said he wouldn't have a problem making any of the modifications I wanted. The only one he said he would want to check on was overriding the Vehicle In Motion settings which would allow the DVD player to display while driving.
Here's a video of some of the mods on a Q5:
I don't care about the needle sweep or lap timer but I want to be able to open and close the windows and sunrrof with the key. As well as fold in the mirrors with the key. The CD Ripping is a nice feature as well.

Thanks Todd

So why can't the dealers set the car up with the features we want turned on

Or more to the point why hasn't Audi enabled these in the MMI so that we can turn on whatever we want or turn it off
I mean it's not like it's a total hack with new software....these options are already there

The window and sunroof open and close is a really useful feature.

With my A6 I can open and close all windows together by holding down the open/close buttons on the key fob. Is it the same on the Q5?

It is Dave - I've just tried it to be sure. Mine was disabled by default, you have the option to enable for front, rear and sunroof. The sunroof just kicks up at the rear as per the video.
Kev,
I've found it a useful feature to release all the heat when the car's been left out on that day in the year when there has been too much sun. (One more week to wait!)

Yeah, depending on where you live UK, CA, USA there are different factory settings.
My MMI, Setup, does not show the following options until you enable it with VAG-COM

It is a feature that should be enabled from the factory. It's nice if you have been away from the vehicle and want to vent all the heat out while you load stuff in the trunk etc.
It's also nice if you get out of the car and then realize that a window was left open or one of your children opens the door before the sunroof or windows have completely closed, just do it with the remote after you get out.

- the weather up there isn't that bad is it Dave? I've had it on a couple of cars but never really used it to be honest. I went for the advanced key so I guess there is even less chance of me using it now.

Not long now - 1st September delivery? Hope you are as pleased as I am with mine. Couple of little snags - one of the Homelink buttons not working correctly and a damaged alloy - both of which the dealer is on with. Other than that I'm really enjoying it.

One minor niggle I discovered today was the unusual way it has imported the directory from my Sony Ericsson but I need to study it further.

Cheers for now.

Ah...so we can have this one at least without the need for a vagcom.

Still can't see why the customer can't have some say apart from those items where legislation may have the last say.

Don't forget, if you do set up what used to be called 'comfort control' on older models and you squash your keys as you sit on them whilst they are in your pocket, the windows open..........not the required result if it's raining or your at the pub!! Always had mine disabled via Vagcom on older cars, you can chose as above if you wish, but I wouldn't!

Good point MC. I was also wondering if it would work with the advanced key anyway

Is there a feature to part set the alarm to allow the leaving of pets in the car
But only for a few minutes ie. filling up with fuel.

I would really like to be able to load the hard drive with CDs for the occasions when I've not got my ipod with me.
