Hi,

I just noticed at the weekend that i have a drum in the lower level iof the boot which i had assumed was where the foam/jack ect. was stored.. Ive now realised that it has a speaker inside.

I did not upgrade to a Bang & Olufsen sound system - is this normal....?

Hi,

Can confirm I've got a woofer too.... and no B&O system.
I think it was standard in the 3.0 TDi.

Can you have the B&O retrofitted in UK dealers? I I'm just trading my Black Edition Quattro A5 Coupe and gutted to be losing it...

Dealers won't do it thats for sure.

None of the wiring will be there it would be a nightmare to retro fit - you would be much better off going after market and the quality would be much better too.

Without comparison I am impressed as a system in isolation.

I have always had an interest in hi fi and have had many systems. I have a KEF surround sound system with theatre amp and i like to consider my appreciation of good sound reproduction valid. I judge the B&O system quite impressive.

I had the standard audi sound system in my A4, and now have the B&O in the Q5 and I have to say it's a bit of an improvement but not as much as I was expecting.

Q5 without has better base and range.
The B&O in my R8 is pretty good - better than the Q5s and the B&O in the RS5 is no better than ok.

You have to go above A6 or above to get a good B&O setup.

My previous A4 avant had B&O and the system in the SQ sounds crisper and has more bass. Not amazing, but very good imo. To say it's not good enough would be harsh, especially at the fairly moderate price. A real top system that only an audiophile would truly appreciate would cost several thousand.

Had the B&O in the previous Q, did a side by side test with the standard system and felt the difference was not worth the money so didn't bother with it in current car and don't miss it at all.

Must vary quite a lot these B&O systems. Just glad I got a good one.

By model they are all 100% the same in terms of sound.
Agree with Bigmac, wife had one on the last Q5, but we didn't order it for her SQ.

However the difference between her B&O and the one in my R8 was huge; not so for the RS5 however.
