I ordered my Q5 with the B & O sound system upgrade, I could not be happier with the sound. This system is considerably better than the Marc Levinson system that I had in my Lexus RX 330. I highly recommend this upgarde.

Wicked - I didn't find the Levinson too bad, especially in the RX300, so if the B&O is that much better I'll be well pleased. 500 Gig drives down to under ?50 now so will be getting one in the near future and start filling it up ready

Yes I really think its well worth the upgrade. When playing files make sure they are of the highest quality as you can really hear the difference. Most of my iTunes library are mp3's at 128 kbps which are really quite poor compared to the lossless formats which I am now converting to.

Glad someone else can tell the difference. I always rip to lossless as I have always maintained that the better the play back equipment the more apparent the loss of quality is with low bitrates.

Can you explain how to convert them?

Do you do it in itunes?
You cannot convert files that have already been compressed back to lossless quality - period.

The only option is to re-rip to a lossless format. iTunes will rip to Apple Lossless if it is set to do so and Windows Media Player 11 will rip to WMA lossless, again if set to do so.

Bear in mind that a lossless track will occupy much more space - typically 20 to 30 megs a track v 5 to 10 megs for a lossy format - so you should consider what storage medium to use dependant on the number of tracks you wish to take with you.

I'll be getting myself a 500 gig portable drive now they are so reasonable - less than the price of a couple of decent SD cards.

I had it in my S5 and B&O is superb.
I've got a Q5 3.0 TDI S-tronic S Line Special Edition on order as it comes as standard in that spec - and I can't wait!
B&O rocks in the Q5. If it wasn't standard on the s-line SE I'd definately be adding it.

Just to add to what everyone else has said, yes it is worth the difference. Dont forget to add the DAB radio as well as when you get good reception this is great as well.

Personally I would forget the inbuilt sat nav that only gives you 4 digit postcodes and buy a £200 Tomtom or Garmin and spend the money on more toys and gadgets.

From what I've read the sat nav now does 6 digit postcodes. I'm awaiting mine in a couple of weeks but I'm sure someone else could confirm.

after listening 2 both,b&o beats the 10 speaker set up but there both not loud enough, need to see if the max volume can be changed.

When I compared the B & O system with Audi sound system, I was surprised that the Audi sound system (180W) playing loudly for 20-30 percent of the B & O system (505W).
With the help of Vag-com (VCDS) and I have managed to boost its B & O but still not what I expected from a system with 505W.
The procedure is as follows:
- Open Sound System Controller 47
- open the Long Coding Helper
- under 1 byte is normally 03 No Volume Lowerin / Raising
change in 01 Volume Raising by 6 dB

I daren't take the B&O to it's max for fear of blowing the roof off!!! Not to mention it would probably make my ears bleed.
