As some buyers of the new Q5 2013 model are now recieving their cars i would be interested in the issue of using a iphone 4s (no rsap support on any iphones) with the phone prep high with online services.
I have a iphone 4s and i read its not perfect as it does not support rsap (remote sim access profile) which is needed if you want both bluetooth handsfree and the benefit of the online services ie google maps on Satnav etc at the same time. I hope the 2013 model may have a solution? will be interested on what you find.
I may have to
1. dump the iphone 4s for a rsap compatiable mobile (samsung galaxy s3?) which would work both sytems perfectly, but i like the Iphone ?
2. take my sim card out of the iphone insert into the car sim (using a micro sim to normal sim adaptor ) and benifit from both systems. But this is a fad doing this every time i get into the car! so not perfect
3. by another sim like Giffgaff (unlimited data ÂŁ10 a month) insert as required into the car to get google map updates and other on line services. Trouble is here is that as soon as a sim is inserted into the car it takes priority and stops the bluetooth conection to the Iphone so now i dont have hands free.?
There have been lots of discussions on this topic since last year when Audi have introduced online services into the A6, A7 etc
Any update would be much appreciated.
