To be honest, I'm not sure that AMI is really worth getting if you have the SD card reader. So long as you have the phone preparation (bluetooth) then your iPhone will work fine (I don't think AMI does anything for the phone). I will end up using the AMI but only because it is there. If I didn't have it then I wouldn't miss it.

Thanks for the responses, I am getting the tech pack high which includes AMI. I do use my iPhone as my ipod as well so wanted to check if that works as it doesn't mention iphones in the compatibility bit. I will use SD and the Jukebox as well by I am an avid listener of podcasts so would use the AMI for this.

Whilst the Iphone 3GS works with the AMI it does not allow it to work as an Ipod at the same time as a phone. Our Q5 was a demo and built in early 2009 so it's worth checking if there have been any firmware updates to allow both signals to operate at the same time

I believe it's now been sorted - I have AMI and bluetooth in my car, and it works perfectly with my iPhone 3G - music controlled through the car controls as expected, then music mutes when using the phone, then back to music when the call ends.

I picked my car up last Sept, and the Salesman told me the same thing about iPhones, but when we were setting it all up during the handover process, he was surprised as it all worked seamlessly, as above. I guess it was a recent change.

Thanks for the info above (I asked this in a similar post along with some bluetooth questions). Has anyone else got their iphone working fine with AMI also? Just so I know whether their is any upside in getting the low bluetooth prep if the AMI connector also charges the iphone?

Thanks

Just to clarify, I pretty sure that the AMI interface and cable connection controls the iPod side of the phone, and also charges it, but doesn't control the phone functions - you need bluetooth to do that. What I meant in my post above, is that these two things operate together seamlessly for me.

I hope that helps,
Phil.
