The overhead sunglasses holder in the Q5 is rather small and, as such, it may be unused for its intended purpose.

Here?s an idea for people who, like myself, don?t have Audi?s garage door opener (HomeLink) option which currently costs ?175 (GBP):

A standard garage opener remote control can be semi-permanently fixed inside the sunglasses holder (using sticky pads, blu-tack or a suitable foam insert).

The end result is neat and on returning home the garage door is opened by simply opening the sunglasses holder and then pressing the remote control button inside.
