Does anyone know for sure when the 2011 build starts? I've seen pretty much everything from April to September.

I made an enquiry as to my options on 10th May. My dealer has just got back to me today to inform me that any spec amendment will result in the loss of current build slot, this means if I change the standard suspension back to s-line as I previously expected the vehicle will not arrive until late 2010 early 2011 instead of September! I thought with an unconfirmed build slot of week 26 I would still be able to make changes without penalty.
This just doesn't make any sense!!!

On the back of speaking to Audi UK on the 24th May I asked my dealer to do the same i.e. speak directly to Audi UK Sales. Within 20 minutes of making that call my dealer rang me back to tell me that they had added the sports suspension, together with a spare wheel and boot mat, to my order. At the time he told me that their system instantly flags up if the order amendment will result in a change to the build week (currently 27) and on this occasion no change was indicated.

The dealer again, today, confirmed that the sports suspension, wheel and mat had been added to my order and that the build week was unaffected.

I cannot believe that a dealer, or at very least Audi UK, don't know what will or will not affect the build week. If Hull Audi can make a change then so can any other dealer. Maybe they just can't be bothered?

Many thanks, most helpful - I think you are right -they can't be bothered. Many dealerships are complacent knowing they have an excellent product and don't have to make too much of an effort. I will try and pin them down again today but I'm faced with the now familiar scenario that the receptionist is happy to put me through to the dealer until I give my name and he's suddenly attending a meeting. If not for this forum I would be non the wiser. Thanks again.

It makes you so mad doesn't it - and I've got mine sorted.

I honestly don't think they have any excuse for the way they treat their customers - whether their cars are selling by the bucket full or not. Most of us are spending a significant amount of money on their products.

Knowing what I know now I would be in there standing over the 'Sales Executive' while he made the call to Audi UK Sales - not that we should have to go to those lengths. If you are getting fobbed of by the dealership it's disgraceful.

You and I are both in a similar position in as much as the clock is ticking away before our build week goes firm and I sincerely hope you manage to get it sorted in time.

All that is required is a little effort and some honesty.

Like you, I'm pretty certain that if it were not for this forum I would have been non the wiser.

Good luck.

My problem is I live quite a distance from my dealership but if I don't get answers to my e-mail by tomorrow I'll be waiting for him when he arrives Saturday morning. I'll keep you posted.
Cheers.

Hi Rich,

Yep, looks like we could well be sharing a bit of deck space lol.

As of Tuesday when they last rang I was still unconfirmed but he was still hopeful that the build might come forward - fingers crossed.

I'd love to think that we can beat any VAT increase. I can't see why they shouldn't be able to invoice us as soon as the build is confirmed with payment due on delivery. Did your dealer say they would stand any increase?

Cheers,

Kev

Hi Kev,
was told without even asking that audi would cover the vat rise, would try and push to see if your dealer is telling porkies!! Just mention how some dealers are covering it,we have order through the inchcape group,i dont think the vat rise will be instantly brought in over night too much work.

will keep you informed

good luck

Thanks for that Rich - much appreciated.

To be fair to Hull Audi I've not even asked the question yet so I'm maybe worrying without cause.

I think you're probably right regarding the introduction of the new rate as well.

I've been without a car since March now so I'm keen to get the thing here, get that B&O cranked up and start to enjoy what I hope is going to be a real nice car.

Cheers,

Kev

I think I will be pressed to make a decision on suspension tomorrow. I'm used to a hard ride in my A6 and was very satisfied with my Q5 test drive on sports suspension so I'm tempted to opt for it like many on this site. However, does anyone know what to expect with standard suspension? Why are folk so averse to it?

Fingers crossed that they do the decent thing and give you a reply tomorrow.

It'll be interesting to hear how you get on.

I haven't even tried the sports suspension - I based my decision to opt for the sports based on what I have read on here, talking to people that already have it and the advice I received at the dealers.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
I was told today that mine has now been ordered. So the next step is an order number some time in the next few weeks.

If anyone is interested I popped in to Audi Oxford yesterday for a second opinion on ADS. Salesman didn't know there were any changes to the suspension and was still selling from the Feb brochure.......He's been educated now

Anyway they have got a Daytona Grey S line in the showroom. I didn't look at the spec but if you want one pdq then it's there.

Hi Stewart,

I think you will be getting standard suspension then.

We too have orderd via an Inchcape dealer and they informed us that they would NOT cover any VAT rise and that as this was a UK Gov action then I had to pay this. To add insult to injury the dealers sales staff said that as no VAT rise was announced then the question was not relevant! What world do they live in!
Hi Stewart,

I think you will be getting standard suspension then.
I think you will find there is apoint of contract law which covers us all. If we signed a contract for a specific vehicle before the build change, then if we are supplied with a SLine with standard suspension we will have the right to compensation/sue. If you read the sales brochures it clearly states that SLine are supplied with sports suspension not lowered. As this was in force when purchased then the dealer is obliged to inform you, not you chase them. You then have the right to state you wish to have sports suspension. If they say that this will delay the delivery make the demand that they then supply you with a vehicle to use until yours arrives. State that it must be equivalent to or greater than the specification you have on order as this is your rights.

Hi windmill,
Not sure how they work it all out there seems to be no set rules, when is your car due? maybe you will have it before it all takes place.

There might not be a VAT rise.......this year.

Hi Josh

I think that will be wishful thinking. After Camerons speach this morning I think that it is not only inevitable but likely now to be nearer 25% than 20%.

Hi Rich

You are right about them not having any set rules. We orderd our car a 3.0 litre SLine SE on 23rd January with a scheduled build date of now wk 28!
