Hi,

Just got my new Audi Q5 2011 S-Line.

I am facing a silly problem; I can?t open the trunk door while car is running.

I have to turn off the car & take the key out to press the remote button that open the trunk.

Is there a way to open the trunk door while car is running?

All the Q5 does no trunk release button on the driver's door.
With me is functioning when you double-click unlock doors

My car has no trunk release button on the driver's door.

View a photo so satisfied.
I'm over at MMI settings as did the picture and it works.

For your information models without the navigation system or the comfort key not equipped with trunk release button on the driver's door!!!!

Thanks for the info ?!
I am surprised as to what navigation got to do with the boot release button?!
This is rather inconvenient, my wife picks my son at the station, when she arrives she has to open the tailgate for him to put his stuff. In my case, she uses the boot release button. But if there is none, then she would need to stop the engine & pull out the key fob to open it!!

Did i miss anything!!

I also find this to be a very annoying thing!

I have the comfort key system and no boot release button on inside the car. At times my wife will pick me up or drop me off at the local train station so we face the non-opening boot frequently. Even if I have my key in my pocket when I go to open the boot, it still will open. The only way we can get it to work is if the engine is switched off and then the driver's door is opened.

It drove us nuts until we worked this out and it still is very annoying.

Have you understood me well.
The setings: Car
Central locking,
Boot lid / tailgate - off

When set to OFF you can unlock with when you double-click unlock doors (it may take you then press three times)

I cant say I've ever had the problem of the boot being locked with the engine running. All we ever do is double click the central locking button open and the boot and doors all unlock even with the engine running.
Will double check the setting next time I'm in the car to see if it is setup like above.
Ours has operated like this since we had it and is just like the a4 we had before it.

Thanks a lot; I will try changing the settings & hope it works.

I hated the car when I faced this several times & couldn?t find the solution easy

It was going to work.
When you work with me and then others will work with you.
Just to let you know when you adopt another key on it that you have to just because you change all the settings saved on the Audi key.
Good luck

I can't believe we were so silly that we didn't work this out ourselves.

Thankyou Spijun, it works like a charm and has cured an operation of the car that we had always found frustrating.

I am having the same issues with my Q5 2011 S-line. Hoping there is a solution.

i want to ask about that does any model has the option that the trunk door open automatically i mean like motorized or all must be raised by hand?
But it has additional options which are paid separately when buying new car

"Luggage compartment lid, electrically opening and closing" CC 500 EUR

I have just bought a 2010 Q5 and went i lock the car the boot doesn't lock it looks like the person who had the car before me has disabled the central locking on the boot because i cant see the cable. Does anyone know how much it might cost me for a new cable?

My "trunk" has a release catch built into it. I can open it when the engine is running by walking to the rear of the car and using the release located close to the reverse camera.
