Hi I want some advice and was wondering if there's any people who has encountered a similar warning message on their dash?
I have a 67 plate Q5 with a full Audi dealership service history. The car's done just under 17500 miles. What I wanted to know is what does this error message means. Unfortunately my car's around 6-months outside it's manufacturer's warranty. What I wanted to also know is what are Audi like with claims outside warranty. Any advice from anybody who has knowledge or first hand experiences would be greatly appreciated many thanks in advance.

No idea about this warning. Perhaps failure of the power steering ecu module? Did you notice any issues, e.g. did the steering become heavier?
I did have the steering rack replaced under warranty on my old Q5.
I did have the ecu fail on my A3, the steering became incredibly heavy.

Audi are more generous to first owner with full dealer service history.

I've not noticed any change in the heaviness of the steering. Although I've noticed it does sound abit rough when turning into a road at low speed or full locking the car to get on to to drive. I'm not sure if that's because I've not driven the car in a while. There isn't any play in the steering itself and it's very central and not misaligned. Also the tracking of the steering is spot on. I thought initially it is just the comp playing up but the warning message has not shifted. In going to give Audi a call when they open.

It would help if the error code could be read via the OBD plug.

Ok..So the faults been diagnosed as a breakdown of the steering rack (not wear and tear as they mentioned) @ 17,500 miles.

They are wanting 3k for a new one. Any advise would be welcomed greatly. No mention of help via a goodwill gesture.
What are Audi UK CS like are they any good in these situations?
I'm only 5 months outside warranty and in the last year have only driven 2k due to working from home ect.... should I have seen driving more then I guess the fault would have presented it self earlier. The AA who towed the car said that the rack should go for ages before failing.

Same issue I had with my old Q5.
Who is your dealer?
Have you owned since new with full dealer service history?

Hi. I've owned the vehicle since new. Got the servicing done by them (inspection service and a oil service) Watford Audi. They have just taken a really horrible approach to this situation. They knocked off £500.00 but I said that's not good enough. I did say that I've logged a complaint with Audi UK and also I've contacted them via Twitter. Which took the service advisor by shock lost for words! We have a long standing history of loyalty with Audi upgrading our cars every few years and paying for servicing with them even though they are more expensive. We thought that it would be worth it if they stand behind their product when we need the dealership support at the most. Just seems that means jack to them! Just out of curiosity what resolution did you get out of your experience?

Hi, My steering rack was replaced Free of Charge. It is disappointing that your dealer has been less than helpful. Dealers get a much reduced fee for repairing warranty faults from Audi than they would charge an owner.

Audi UK were useless. Their opening line was 'we are just a liaison service and we have no powers' the dealerships decision is final and we have no say so. I was wondering why I even bothered to ride out and entertainment the b's. Bottom line, the head of the business said no with no further reason. Audi UK even went far as saying to me that you can go to the motoring ombudsman but they will take the delweships side, but thats not him telling us that we shouldn't try. I was like what's WTF what is AUDI UK on. £2800 quid for a new rack. Whilst all this is going on we have the Retentions manager and the renewal advisor at the dealership informing me that we quality for extra offers and we have been hand-picked for being loyal customers. How would we feel about upgrading our current car. I put it quite bluntly loyalty only works when it's an advantage to them not me. As you've not had my back I'm not putting any more of my hard earned cash into your brand. I could have said more and been more aggressively composer but what's the point.

Worth maybe getting a quote from an independent Audi specialist or a different main dealer?
