Can anyone tell me the capacity of the Adblue tank and how many miles I should get between fill up? When I first got the car I saw that the app stated that the adblue mileage range was 1,491 so I figured I would get some to be prepared to top up when the warning light came on - now I realise 5,000 miles later that it still says 1,491 miles so clearly the app is useless (why is it even on the app if it doesn't work?) I have a 2019 Sport.

Hi Angelak,

I did think the app was dodgy! Mine hasn’t budged from the same 1491 miles left as well!! The Adblue tank capacity is 23 litres which according to my dealer said I should get about 9000 miles out of it! That would also depend on driving style. I have only done about 800 miles since collection, so not quite ready for a top up!!!

The app is only really telling you that that low-level alarm has not yet triggered, when you get to 3L the dash will tell you you’ve got 1500 miles left, and then keep warning you!

Mk I tank was 23 litres (not seen confirmation of Mk II), at first alarm I’ve always been able to get 20L in, range from there typically 8,500-9,000 ... not had to top up the Mk II yet.

Angela,

Just to give you a rough idea, I have worked out that my Mk2 2.0TDI has used about a litre per tank of diesel in 16,000 miles.

The AdBlue tank has no level monitoring except for when it gets low, as bobs has said, about 1500 miles, you then have plenty of time to refill the tank.

I put 20 litres in at 16,400 miles - just after having it serviced for the first time. I queried this and was told it was not an item they checked on the service! Seems crazy to me.
Now nearly 26,000 miles with no warnings yet.

So, at 8,000 miles I finally got the warning light so went off to Halfords to get AdBlue. I bought 20 litres as it was cheaper that way anyway - but I only managed to get 10 litres in. So I presume that the Mark II only has a 13 litre tank?

The Mk2 Q5 TDI models do have a free option (PTT) for a 70 litre fuel tank including a 24 litre AdBlue tank......perhaps yours hasn’t got this option?
