They are quite a rare sight - not sure I have seen another in the 6 weeks I have had mine.

Not seen one yet, but the mpg on a petrol would worry me :-(

The SQ5 diesel is such a good all rounder. If they add the same bi turbo engine to the new SQ5, it could be a maybe in 2019 for me.

Rappy :-).

I was talking to the sales rep at my dealer who said he has sold 1. He said if you had the old shape then went to the new petrol you would not be impressed with the engine so must agree Rappy

Well I had a 2015 A6 3.0Tdi, have had a 330d BMW and a couple of other reasonable performance diesels in the past. I have a new petrol SQ5 and 2k miles in don't want to go back...

31 to 34 mpg on a steady speed motorway run, beautiful refinement (yes I did get out and forget to switch it off once...) and a glorious sound and delivery if you plant your foot.

Not trying to sell, everyone free to make their own decision. We also have a 530d (new shape) in the house so I get to compare engines regularly. I am impressed with the engine having that comparison to hand.

Thanks for your input on the petrol SQ5 :-).

On a steady run my SQ5 diesel shows 46-50 mpg.

Actual fill up shows 36/37 mpg. So I would imagine the petrol will loose around 10 mpg.

31-34 is what the fill up is showing, but the average is showing 29 as a lot less economical round town! But as I do 10k a year, that's nothing overall in the scheme of £25k depreciation in 3 years or so....

And the refinement is fantastic. And the fun away from M6 toll booths even better, the noise in sport is addictive.

Wow!!! 31-34 is very impressive & quite frankly I'm shocked.

I read a review on a new shape Q5 2.0 tdi vs 2.0 Tsi.

The actual real world driving was 26mpg for the petrol & 36mpg for the diesel.

I really doubted the SQ5 petrol would break more than 25mpg.

Rappy.

My just over 2k miles so far have included 75 Hull to chesterfield (motorway), 130 chesterfield to Hemel (motorway), 260 round trip Hemel to chesterfield (motorway), about 300 Hemel to Camberley (motorway) and some 600 Camberley to Southampton to Liverpool and return (motorway) - and I may have missed some. On the motorway I do a steady 75 to 80 recorded, sometimes on cruise but often not. It's about as economical running as you will get and I am under no illusions of that. But my old XC70 D5 averaged 37 on similar journeys!

I can get it below 25 - the school run the other morning averaged 13 per the trip computer! But I have a station jalopy for running round town and leaving where it might get damaged so the car was chosen for long journey performance, refinement and fun!

A good mates got one and it really is very nice indeed, although what was Audi thinking by hiding the exhausts ?

The alternative (a la GLC 43 or new X3) is a fancy shaped trim ring cut out with a standard exhaust hiding away behind it - I am not sure a mildly sporty SUV like the SQ5 can cut 4 pea shooter exhausts like an M3 or X6M or GLE63...

Point taken but it seems to work on all their RS models. I guess the only benefit is you'll never have to spend ages polishing your pipe.........Hehe.

I’m with you, that was a shocking decision. I’m thinking the black pack might disguise them a bit better.

In my mind the effect of the new front grill plus the SQ5's chrome effect bars for the lower side grills make it look like a 5 bar gate coming down the road so hopefully a black pack will cure that as well

Saw my first (other than my own) on the m25 this morning - about 8.30 and about half way from M1 to M4, heading anti clockwise, black or very dark grey, LS67 ....

Looked good in the outside lane from the back with the 21s - if I had been in mine and not that station jalopy I would have formed a convoy..
