Hi All,

I've been trying to get retro-fitted ADS to work since end of 2012 in my Q5 FL. There is a thread here somewhere... I desperately needed it to make artificially soft steering to get tighter/firmer. Changes in Throttle and Gearbox response have been noticeable, but not the Steering.

With this new code below the Steering response is changing as well. FINALLY got it to function 100%!
Instead in byte 8, steering needs to be activated in Byte 11, bit 7. Source: http://www.audisport-iberica.com/for...t-by-marrones/

Byte 8 Bit 3 Change 0 to 1 - Enable Suspension (requires electro-adjustable shocks installed as hardware , otherwise leave as 0)
Byte 8 Bit 4 Change 0 to 1 - Enable Dynamic Steering Ratio (requires special steering rack with variable turning ratio installed as hardware, otherwise leave as 0)
Byte 8 Bit 5 Change 0 to 1 - Enable Sports Differential (required special differential installed as a hardware, otherwise leave as 0 )
Byte 11 Bit 7 Change 0 to 1 - Enable Steering response difference in various ADS modes

From memory you'll find that setting Byte 8 Bit 1 to 1 will also enable the gears to be displayed correctly on the DIS, certainly in MY2015 with automatic transmission.

I have not tried Byte 11 Bit 7 on mine as I can feel a difference between the modes anyway but it is very slight. I will get the lead out over the weekend and see if it makes a difference.

Did you actually manage to code Module 44 without any issues/errors?

Byte 11 bit 7 makes no noticeable difference to steering in MY2015 SQ5, you can feel a slight difference between modes with the changes in byte 8 already.

got ADS enabled by Shabaz today (thank you), didn't realise i get 'offroad' and 'efficiency' modes, with the latter giving me 'E' type gearing and the Dynamic going straight to 'S' gearing when engaged.

steering changes were fairly noticeable too.

hi all

first timer here

i would like to see if i can have ADS on my Q5 3.0 tdi. It was registered in feb 2013 and i have had it for 7 months and loving it.

can anyone help me with this and recommend some in the Kent area. i have read that Richter sports can possibly do it ÂŁ450.00.

thanks

What does "Offroad" mode do for you (the car that is

)?

What does it do? What can you configure?

welcome to the forum - you are in good Q company.

ADS only a software hack (unless you really want the ADS button - but pressing 'CAR' has almost the safe effect. - 2 members of this forum kindly offered to do it for me (and others) for free so i think you would be daft to pay ÂŁ45 (and absolutely insane to pay ÂŁ450!).

get talking to an Audi enthusiast in Kent or London who can help you and save your money.

good luck.

Offroad does absolutely nothing. Just a menu option which is non standard and pointless. I set mine up so it is identical to a factory install minus the button.

So it is an alternative to using the buttons to switch off ESP and switch on down hill assist??

#17 ·
Not that I could tell, it is not an option on factory fitted systems so I did not play a great deal but I could not see it doing anything at all when I made the coding changes.

I think you can have Race mode as an option which does nothing too if you like but I could be mixing it up with another Audi model, can't recall.

#18 ·
Thanks for that - stops me getting jealous

You are correct about Race mode as an option: I read about these different modes on another Forum which was talking about MMI 3+; interestingly the very informative thread stated that you can only have 5 modes "activated", however, Rifleman seems to have 6

Are any of the settings better for slippery surfaces like snow?
According to the owner's manual, turning off ESC may be better for snow/loose surfaces etc

Since my car went in for a service and they performed a software update for the aircon, some reports of it staying on when car is parked.

I lost some of my changes one being the ADS.

Forget the rest below - I was in the wrong area, knew it was too early in the morning to look at.

I still have it on the MMI but the options dynamic, auto etc are greyed out, tried to re enable today and struggling with the security access code.
Mine says 47302 basic settings, previously used code 20113 which worked, it accepts the new code but then in adaptation 10 i see a different screen to previously with no option for channel 66

I am running VCDS version 15.7.3

i was parked (nose up) in wet grass today on an incline leading down from the edge of a road and i needed to drive up and forward to get back onto the road.

i was in 'auto' mode on ADS, and and as i put my foot on the throttle gently the car went forward until the wheels began to spin - the rear wheels in particular spinning and then the front kicked in a little too i think.

i stopped after moving only a couple of inches knowing the wheels would dig themselves in if i made no progress.

i thought to myself - i'll see what 'off-road' on the ADS does if i select it.

i switched to 'off-road' on the ADS, applied the throttle gently again and this time the rear wheels span for what seemed like a millisecond and then all 4 wheels appeared to work in unison and the car slowly but surely drove up the wet grass without slipping like before, the front 2 wheels bit the tarmac and pulled her up onto the road.

i'm not saying 'off-road' drove all wheels equally or applied diff-lock - but it certainly seemed to change the behaviour of the drive to the wheels - i cannot confirm this but it got me up the wet grass on onto the road without wheel-spinning like before.

maybe it was just coincidence and it did nothing at all - but the Quattro got me out of the wet grass and onto the road - and before i hit that button i had wheels spinning left right and Chelsea!

or maybe 'off-road' in the ADS is just a placebo?!

Good evening chaps, Many thanks for this coding version, I have taken the plunge with a friend of mine who runs a garage and bought vcds, completed many modifications but cannot get the audi drive select to appear on the display.

My car is a non navigation Audi Q5 2.0TDI 150bhp Manual, I have been through many codings from many sites but cannot get this to appear, am I missing something.

Did module 09
Byte 7 bit 5 change to 1 (says activates ADS)
Byte 8 bit 2 change to 1 (says enables throttle response in the various modes)
Byte 11 bit 7 change to 1 (says enable steering response difference in various ads modes, this didnt appear in the VCDS long code helper area and

Module 44
Byte 3 bit 0 change to 1 (enable ads in steering module)

Did this but cant see the feature anywhere in the cars centre screen am I missing something, I know this is an option on non navigation cars, I wonder if it cannot be added if you do not have the 2g or 3g navigation.

If the drive select does not appear on the central screen where would you control it from? I cannot see any coding for switching it on in the MMI screen, I tried the coding for cars with MMI hence byte 17 bit 7 change to 1 (enables in display but nothing appearred, normally as you know when you make changes and the codes are accepted they appear quite quickly, I did shut the car down and re start just to see but still no menu)

Any help would really be appreciated

Please advise if you have any codings that may work

Cars now done nearly 41000 and still on original 20' tyres

I've tried the coding with FL cars with navigation and can confirm as working:
MMI 3+ Changing of modes can be done either via the button or on the screen. It is possible to set Individual mode (one of ADS modes) via MMI menu.
MMI 3. Changing of modes can be done only via the button. It is possible to set Individual mode (one of ADS modes) via MMI menu.

I have not tried it personally on a car without Navigation, but am 99% sure that you need to retrofit the ADS button in order to change modes

I borrowed a ÂŁ40-from-Amazon cable over the w/e and enabled ADS. It was very straight forward.
Please do tell more: do you use the cable in conjunction with the VCDS software? Details of the cable?

#34 ·
Are you sure? Someone on this forum previously mentioned that it helped get them out of a sticky situation.

#32 ·
I first did all the tweaks I could using my Carista as it's so much easier, including getting the hidden menu. Then I invoked the ADS menu, but it was greyed out.
Then I needed the cable to get ads working . I used the instructions from here http://www.audienthusiasts.com/VagCom_FL_ADS.html

Yep. Completely sure. Q5 has no ride height/air ride control.

"quattro has a long-established reputation as an outstanding cross-country performer, and facilitating its impressive on- or off-road ability is an increased ground clearance of 34 mm over the standard. An offroad mode can be selected using Audi drive select to make the most of this feature.
